The revitalization of the Commercial Cable building and site at Hazel Hill will have a series of very positive impacts in the areas of heritage, economic development in the region, education and potentially marine ecology.
The most important impact will be the preservation of the heritage and history of Nova Scotia and Canada’s role in Trans-Atlantic Cable communication in the 19th and 20th centuries. The unique planned community of Hazel Hill, the breaking of the cable monopoly and the impact of cable on the dissemination of news of world events will be prominent features of the interpretative centre.
